Come Out, Come Out

Prophetic Expression

You’re so hidden, little one. Fear-filled and looking for cover. Erecting walls of self-protection, fortresses to buffer you from fear’s projection of pain, trauma, disappointment and grief. Playing make-believe in masquerade; a dramatic door-slam measure in an attempt to keep me from your shadowed life. Don’t you know, there is no place I won’t go! I am there when you choose to numb rather than turn and face me. I am there when anxiety begins to disperse “proof” of fear’s claims. In those dark alleyways where revenge is inviting you into its chaotic nonsense, I’m with you. You cannot escape, I’m in every hiding spot – that age-old game never worked out so well. The masqueraded life originates in fallenness, beloved. Despite the mask, I see you, I know who you are and what you’re capable of.

When I spoke of you in the beginning, I did so with great purpose and intentionality. I know the measure of love and courage that completed you in me. I chose your temperament; how fiery and compassionate you’d be. I decided what would move you, how your body would respond when you first heard my voice. The raw emotions you experience in tears, laughter and everything in between was decided that day. I made you; you are held together and function by the power of my voice, the wind from my lungs. This is what is true of you, hidden or not, you are mine and nothing can change that.

Come out, come out, wherever you are…

Rise up my child, turn and face me. See yourself at last – take a long hard look. You’re the spitting' image of me, darling!

Look!

See!

Respond.

Come. Sit with me awhile. Get to know my ways, my loving ways. You will learn to delight, to drink of pleasure forevermore. You will never want to mask again, not one more numbed out moment will be on your mind. No hiding left to do. For your desire will be for more. More love. More power. You are a refreshing fountain that bids the thirsty ones, “come, drink until you’re full. Come, see the one who longs to reveal his goodness within you.”

Revelation 3:17-20

…you are clueless that you’re miserable, poor, blind, barren, and naked! So I counsel you to purchase gold perfected by fire, so that you can be truly rich. Purchase a white garment to cover and clothe your shameful Adam-nakedness. Purchase eye salve to be placed over your eyes so you can truly see. All those I dearly love I unmask and train. So repent and be eager to pursue what is right. Behold, I’m standing at your door, knocking.

Isaiah 55:1-3

Come to the refreshing waters and drink. Even if you have no money, come, buy, and eat. Yes, come and buy all the wine and milk you desire– it won’t cost a thing. Why spend your hard-earned money on something that can’t nourish you or work so hard for something that can’t satisfy? So listen carefully to me and you’ll enjoy a sumptuous feast, delighting in the finest of food. Pay attention and come closer to me, and hear that your total being may flourish.

No matter what is taking place all around you, drop the sword you’ve drawn on yourself – self-punishment is unnecessary, here. Bravely turn and face Jesus, he’s right there beside you. Look and see yourself through the Creator’s eyes, using his face as a mirror. Notice as he stoops low beside you, reaching his hand out, gently placing it under your chin, just as you’ve hoped for. His kindness shifting the atmosphere; so inviting. Open your eyes and agree with the magnificent goodness staring back at you.
