Threshold of a Dream

The seeds of a dream fall to their death as quickly as they bloom within our imagination. Burrowing down deep within the soil of our souls to be nurtured in the darkroom of life, developing in hiddenness, awaiting the encounter of daybreak. Some dreams are birthed within days, others take months and some need years and years. Standing at the threshold of a vintage dream offers scapes of surreality; the collision of things hoped for and a heart entrenched in hope deferred lends itself to an awkward first dance as there’s a new lead. A fulfilled longing is indeed the tree of life, branches filled with fruit I couldn’t have imagined and seemingly ripe overnight. It’s a fast, exaggerated fulfillment as if it were bought and transplanted in a showy fashion. Some dreams grow up to be pushy and demanding, aching for action; “Yes”, seems to be the most I can muster as I stand here surveying the land. As I look out, overwhelmed by the goodness of God, I see he’s not left a single detail out. My heart is flooded with great joy, awe, and deep wonder.

This dream has been tucked away for almost two decades awaiting the right day, the right people, and readied city.

Heaven has laid out a remarkable vision to redeem the poor in spirit. A city riddled with violent crime and scandalous stories scattered throughout its history; a wounded place offering hushed prayers begging for resolve while wrestling with identity, carrying the plight that nothing good comes from its streets. Restoration is on God’s mind, He’s sweeping away the darkness to unveil the brilliance of the day. Infusing hope into the day-to-day business; startups, the struggling, and the established ventures. Creating partnerships to inspire greatness with as many people as possible through consultation that inspires and fans the flames of new, lost or failing dreams. There’s an undercurrent rushing straight through, it’s an overt spiritual climate inspiring the courage to bring about change, to dismantle the culture of us and them and rebuild in unity. Removing the partitions between ministry and marketplace, reaching out to release a call to worship and an invitation to be known -- we’ll experience lasting transformation. Building a great city transpires through the intentionality of revealing its people as one with Christ.

The sun is rising over us, together we will stand tall, proud to be the people of Junction City.
