Are You Passively Compromising?

Romans 12:2 (TPT): “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.” Romans 12:2 (NASB95): “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.“ It’s time for self-examination with Holy Spirit. Are you conforming to this world? In other words, are you living compromised? In the pursuit of a sound mind, it is important to know where compromise has invaded our lives. We must have an understanding of what needs to be dealt with. What are the things that you need to be delivered? Don’t be scared to look at and examine these things. God isn’t scared to look at them, however, simply because God isn’t scared of our compromise doesn’t mean He wants it hanging around sending us deeper down that path. What is the path of compromise? It starts with tolerance, moves to affirmation, then acceptance, and finally adoption. That is the flow of compromise. It doesn’t always just show up and you are living life to the fullness of compromise. It more often than not sneaks in under the guise of something that is quietly tolerated. In the quiet tolerance, we are passively compromising ourselves and our reputation as ambassadorial representative of the Kingdom. While you aren’t actively taking part in whatever the compromise is of the culture of God’s Kingdom, your tolerance is still compromised because you are passively observing. Your passive tolerance does not go unnoticed by the enemy. They see this and will advance further looking for an affirmation. While still somewhat passive due to the fact you aren’t actively engaging, this is furthering the compromise because you are starting to say, that is okay for you. You may still try and represent a moral high ground because you rationalize that you aren’t doing that, but it’s okay for you. Whether or not there is pressure to give your affirmation is irrelevant, you are moving farther down the compromise‘s path. Again, the enemy is taking notice and will ramp up the conditions. Now the pressure grows to acceptance. This is where you give voice to saying that compromise is okay for all, including yourself. You may still try and salvage the pseudo-high ground, but you are moving more and more into active compromise at this point. The attack will intensify to move you into fully adopting compromise, taking that on as part of what you do and who you are. You have then stepped into full, and active compromise. There is no longer any passivity, you are living it. Remember, this is slow and strategic warfare designed to get you living a compromised life that isn’t representing the Kingdom well, and regarding the opinions of man over God. With some compromises that appear to be smaller in our sight, there may not be a realization that you are compromised. However, Holy Spirit will make this known to you in some way. This is your opportunity! If He highlights this to you, regardless of where you are on this path, you are being offered an invitation to come back higher. Don’t let a stubborn ego or earthly reputation obstruct you from your true, natural response of turning back to God.
